IAPD Awards Gala and 80th Anniversary Celebration
The 2008 IAPD "Best of the Best" Awards Gala and 80th Anniversary Celebration is coming to Wheeling Park District's Chevy Chase Country Club the evening of Friday, September 12.

We are currently accepting nominations.
Click here to nominate someone or download the Nomination Booklet here.

Don't miss out - last year's Awards Gala drew more than 300 representatives from Illinois park districts, forest preserves, conservation, recreation and special recreation agencies and the businesses that support them. The deadline for nominations is noon on Friday, August 1st.

NOTE: This year, all supporting materials for nominations (narratives of contributions, newspaper clippings, etc.) must be submitted by e-mail to
bjhill@ILparks.org. Call IAPD at 217-523-4554 if you have any questions.

Power Play Beyond School Grant Program
IAPD is now accepting applications for the next Power Play grant cycle. Up to 20 grants in the amount of $2,000 will be distributed to IAPD member agencies.

Click here or the image to the right to download the Power Play Grant Application. Applications will be mailed to agency directors within the next week.

The PowerPlay! Program was originally funded by a grant from the Illinois Attorney General's Office. Now, the sales and renewals of the Park District Youth License Plate generate revenue to support the program. Therefore, it is imperative that all agencies assist in the promotion of the Park District Youth License Plate in order for IAPD to continue this worthwhile grant program.

To date, IAPD has distributed $334,200 to our members in grants through PowerPlay! Click here to purchase additional Power Play Grant Guides for your agency. You must be logged in to receive the Member Rate.

Legislative Key Contact Program
Each member agency of IAPD is encouraged to appoint one elected official to serve as its Legislative Key Contact. The Legislative Key Contact should be an elected official who is interested in the legislative process and in keeping abreast of legislation and its impact on parks and recreation in Illinois. No legislative experience is necessary, just a willingness to learn and understand the legislative process. The Key Contact must be willing and able to communicate through e-mail.
